This morning, shortly before 10 a.m., Houma Police responded to Dollar General within the 300 block of Grand Calliou Rd in reference to an armed robbery.


During the investigation, it was learned a male wearing dark colored clothing entered the business, while armed with a semi-automatic pistol, and demanded money. Despite the demand, reports were that he was unsuccessful.

Afterwards, it was reported to police that the suspect in question left the area on a bicycle heading towards Morris Street.

Once obtaining this information, officers located a subject matching the description on a bike near Cherbourg Street. Officers attempted to conduct a stop, however the suspect he refused, and a brief foot pursuit ensued. The subject was apprehended and found to be in possession of a semi-automatic 9mm pistol. He was identified as Anthony D. Steele, 20 yrs old of Tulane Street.


Anthony D. Steele was arrested for Armed Robbery. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex to be booked and jailed to await bond or court.
