A Montegut convicted felon was arrested by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after a domestic disturbance.

Just before 10 p.m. last night, TPSO deputies were called to the 900 block of Aragon Road. Authorities said they learned that John Cooley Sr., 55, was reported to be pacing in front of his residence with a weapon.

The caller also stated that the subject had been destroying items in the home and had slammed a dresser drawer on her hand.

The complainant said she fled the home and took refuge in the residence of one of her children and Cooley followed her there. He banged on the door, then punched it before returning to his home.

Authorities took Cooley into custody and learned that he was a convicted felon.

Authorities seized a hunting rifle, a shotgun, a .22 pistol and an additional rifle during the arrest.

John Philip Cooley Sr. was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex where he was booked for domestic abuse battery, criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $10,000.
