A 58-year-old Houma man is in the custody of the Houma Police Department for allegedly striking a woman.

On July 11 at around 8 a.m., HPD was called to a report of a man hitting a woman in the 1100 block of Lafayette Street.


Upon arrival, officers located a 57-year-old woman lying unconscious on the ground. The victim was then taken to a medical facility via ambulance where she is recovering from her injuries.

As the investigation continued, authorities learned that Julius Moore, 58, of Houma, was involved in an argument with the victim, who is his girlfriend.

The investigation yielded that the argument became physical and Moore allegedly slammed the victim onto the ground, causing her to lose consciousness.


Moore was located, arrested and is charged with one count of second-degree battery.
