The Houma Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting last week in the area of Roselawn Avenue and Payne Street.

Authorities were called to the location on June 6 shortly after 11 p.m. after receiving a call of shots fired.

During investigation, authorities learned that a suspect occupying a dark-colored, 4-door vehicle passed a residence within the 400 block of Roselawn and fired at a residence.

Within minutes, responding officers were able to locate a vehicle matching the description near Prospect Boulevard.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed toward the Village East area.

A pursuit took place within the Village East neighborhood where the vehicle entered an empty field behind several homes.

At the end of the pursuit, 4 suspects exited the vehicle, running in separate directions. None of the 4 were captured.

Officers located a 9mm handgun, along with several .45-caliber rounds within the vehicle.

The .45-caliber rounds were believed to be the same that were fired at the residence.

This incident is still under investigation.
