A 35-year-old Lafayette man is out on bond after being arrested by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for sex crimes with a juvenile.

In June 2019, LPSO juvenile detectives opened an investigation into Eli Charpentier, 35, after receiving an anonymous tip that he was in possession of child porn.

Through investigation, detectives recovered illicit photos that Charpentier had taken allegedly picturing him with a juvenile relative.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had allegedly inappropriately touched the juvenile on several occasions. Detectives learned that the incidents had occurred around July 2017 in Golden Meadow. This led to authorities seeking warrants for Charpentier’s arrest.

On Monday, the suspect turned himself over to authorities on charges of aggravated crime against nature, indecent behavior with a juvenile and pornography involving juveniles.

He was released on Monday night after posting a $15,000 bond.

Due to the nature of the allegations, no further details will be released.
