The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 19-year-old Houma native after he allegedly shoplifted from the Mathews Walmart.

LPSO is also seeking to identify two others – a suspect and a person of interest – in the case.

At around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, deputies were called to a report of a shoplifting complaint at the Mathews Walmart off La. Highway 1 in Mathews.

Upon arrival, authorities learned that two men had stolen a large TV from the store.

Authorities then observed two men at the scene fitting the description of the suspects.

As deputies started to walk toward the men, they started running away toward La. Highway 1. The suspected then crossed La. Highway 1 to the bayouside area near Bayou Lafourche.

Deputies proceeded to the area and took one of the suspects into custody. He was identified as Nolan Ross, 19, of Houma.

The other man evaded deputies.

Upon further investigation, authorities learned that Ross and a second male suspect stole four TVs total, a drone and other items. Deputies located some of the stolen property in Ross’ car and returned it to the store.

Ross was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. He is charged with theft and resisting an officer. Bond is set at $1,500.

The investigation into the case is continuing. In addition to the second suspect, deputies are also seeking to identify a person of interest in the case – another male seen in the store with Ross. Anyone who can identify either of these individuals is asked to submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region by phone at 1-800-743-7433 or online at www.crimestoppersbr.org. Tips can also be submitted using the P3 Tips app on your mobile device. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.
