The Houma Police Department received a complaint on Feb. 26 regarding a female under the age of 15 yrs. old receiving inappropriate messages from an unknown male via Snapchat.

During the investigation, Houma Police detectives met with the parent who stated she learned her daughter had been in contact with the unknown male for several months. It was also learned when the mother viewed the messages, which were of a sexual nature, she figured he was much older. At this point, the mother immediately notified law enforcement. It was also reported that the subject in question even attempted to arrange an opportunity for him to pick up the child from an undisclosed location.

As the investigation continued, Houma Police detectives began communicating with the suspect which yielded him planning arrangements to meet the child within the Williams Avenue area and a description of his vehicle was obtained. Shortly thereafter, a vehicle matching the description was observed circling the area and a stop was conducted. The driver was identified as Loren Parfait, 30 yrs. old of Daralyn Avenue.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Houma Police were able to corroborate information received from both the victim and Loren Parfait and he was arrested for Computer Aided Solicitation of a Juvenile and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. He was arrested on the aforementioned charges and transported to the jail to be booked.
