A 47-year-old Houma native was arrested yesterday for allegedly breaking into a local business.

In the process of investigating, authorities tied the suspect to several other incidents in the area.

At around 10:50 a.m., HPD responded to a call for a business burglary in the 100 block of High Street.

A description for the suspect was developed and the investigating officers located Frederick Richardson, 47, in the area, fitting the description.

As the investigation continued, Richardson was found to be in possession of stolen property from another burglary that had been reported earlier in the day on Grinage Street.

After further investigation, the suspect was also linked to five other burglaries within the city limits of Houma where he had allegedly forced his way into businesses and homes.

Contact was made with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office as they were investigating two separate burglaries that also had Richardson named as the suspect.

As a result of that investigation, Richardson was arrested for two additional counts of simple burglary.

The investigations of both the Houma Police Department and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies led to Richardson being booked with nine counts of Simple Burglary and one count of Simple Criminal Damage to Property. He is being held at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
