A 32-year-old suspect is in the custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly beat a 71-year-old disabled Veteran following an argument outside of the Walmart off Martin Luther King Boulevard.

On Nov. 8, TPSO received a call of a disturbance in the parking lot, and when uniformed deputies arrived, they observed a man bent over and bleeding from the face.

The suspect had fled the scene prior to TPSO’s arrival.

The victim in the case is identified as a 71-year-old disabled veteran, according to TPSO.

The victim told TPSO that as he opened the door to his vehicle to load groceries, he accidentally hit the suspect’s vehicle with his door.

This caused an argument between the men. The suspect then slammed the victim’s arm in the door of his own vehicle and then struck him in the face multiple times with a closed fist before fleeing the scene.

The victim was treated on the scene by personnel, then taken to a local hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken nose and fractured orbital socket.

T.P.S.O. Detectives continued with this investigation. Through investigation these detectives were able to identify the suspect as Thomas McDaniel (a 32-year-old white male of Houma). Detectives located McDaniel on Tuesday 11-19-19. He was arrested for Felony Second Degree Battery. He was booked and Jailed at Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where his bond was set at $75,000.00.
