Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of William Dirance (B/M, 24 of Thibodaux, La.), for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (Felony), Illegal Carrying of Weapons (Felony) & Resisting an Officer (Misdemeanor).

 

On Thursday, February 20th, 2020, the Thibodaux Police Department responded to a Domestic Disturbance at a residence in the 800 block of Church Street. Prior to police arriving, the male suspect (William Dirance) involved in the disturbance fled the scene on foot, after allegedly pointing and threatening to shoot the victim with a firearm.


 

Officer’s heavily patrolled the area and located Mr. Dirance near the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and Caroline Street. Mr. Dirance failed to comply with officer’s commands to stop, before leading them on a foot pursuit that ended in the 1300 block of Ridgefield Avenue. As Mr. Dirance was apprehended, he was found to be in possession of a concealed firearm.

 

Mr. Dirance was transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, where he later posted a $7,500.00 bond.
