A 37-year-old Thibodaux man has turned himself into the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for his arrest earlier this week, accusing him of murder.

Brhian Thomas, 37, is accused of shooting and killing Deeric Raymond, 29, of Raceland, early Monday morning.

At around 1:25 a.m. on Monday morning, authorities were called to a call of a shooting in the Solar Trailer Park in Thibodaux.

Once on the scene, authorities found Raymond sitting in a car with a gunshot wound to the right side of his torso. After receiving medical care, he was pronounced dead.

Authorities investigated the case and learned that Thomas and another man were allegedly having a physical altercation when Raymond stepped in to try and break up the fight.

Once the men were separated, Thomas allegedly pulled a gun, firing multiple shots, including one which struck and killed Raymond. Thomas later fled the scene and warrants were issued for his arrest.

On Wednesday afternoon, Thomas turned himself in at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.

He is charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Bond has been set at $500,000.

Authorities said the investigation is on-going and additional charges may be filed.
