The fastest hour in TV is coming to the Tri-parish area, live and in person.

The Tuff Hedeman Bull Riding Championships will roll through Thibodaux, partnering with the Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional for a rodeo billed as “8 Seconds to Glory.”

The rodeo will take place Nov. 18-19 at the Warren J. Harang Jr. Municipal Auditorium. The action begins at 8 p.m. each day and tickets range from $11-20 for adults and are $6 for children ages 2-12.

Tickets can be purchased at the Harang Auditorium’s box office or on Ticketmaster.

The event is part of the Championship Bull Riding (CBR) series, which is billed as an alternative bull riding organization designed to give more riders an opportunity to ride for a living. Its popularity has become so widespread that the CBR series airs primetime every week on both GAC and RFD-TV, which reaches more than 55 million viewers. Because of the non-stop, high-paced action, the bull riding series’ programming has been dubbed as the “fastest hour on television.”

This particular rodeo will be worthwhile because of the competition that will take part in the ride.

Event sponsors have raised funds to make this a “$10,000 added” event.

That means the usual purse for the top prize will have that amount thrown on top of it. That kind of money is sure to bring some of the best riders around the South to Thibodaux to try and tame a snarling bull and walk away with pockets loaded full with cash.

Even without the added cash, the CBR has garnered a reputation for handsomely taking care of its riders.

In the organization’s inaugural year in 2002, it awarded riders $116,500 in purse money. Since then, prize money has increased every event and now the world champion for the organization receives a $100,000 cash reward at the end of the season.

That prize has seen riders from 19 states and even Canada take part in CBR rides over the years, according to a release on the organization’s website.

That growth proves the organization is committed to putting out a solid product. They do just that, which means Thibodaux is in for a treat.

This month’s event will be like all other CPR events. Fans will have close-knit access to the riders, being able to get to know their favorite riders throughout the duration of the weekend.

They will also get to see the personalities of the bulls, who are among the best in the world. And heck, the event’s for a good cause, helping to promote cancer awareness.

So head out to the Harang Auditorium this month for this bull riding event.
