Simple Citrus Smoothie

What are citrus fruits? The citrus family includes oranges, mandarins, grapefruit, lemons, limes, clementine, and tangerines. These fruits are delicious and have many great health benefits. Did you know that one large orange helps you meet your daily needs for Vitamin C? Vitamin C helps boost your immune system and helps keep your skin, bones and teeth healthy. They are low in calories and a good source of dietary fiber to help keep us healthy and full.

Citrus fruits are a great way to add flavor and color to our food. Toss citrus fruits into a fruit salad or add them to your green salad for a sweet twist. Squeeze lemon, lime or orange juice onto chicken, fish, or beef for extra flavor. Freeze orange juice into frozen juice bars, add juice to your favorite fruit smoothie, or simply pack a mandarin in your school lunch bag for a grab-and-go snack.
