The Terrebonne Men’s Carnival Club Krewe of Hercules will host a free Thanksgiving luncheon for the local elderly and needy this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Houma Municipal Auditorium, 880 Verret St.

The luncheon has been a tradition of Hercules for over 20 years, said S.P. LaRussa, founder of Hercules.

“We brought in senior citizens through the Council on Aging. We felt that that would be an organization that we could bring under us, and we could give something back to the senior citizens,” LaRussa said. “And we also wanted to help needy families.”

The food is donated from individuals and merchants from throughout the parish, LaRussa said.

The event will also have non-alcoholic drinks and a live band.

Terrebonne Council on Aging will provide bus transportation for the event, too, or attendees can acquire their own transportation.

LaRussa said they are expecting over 600 people to attend the event.

“If any family out there is in need for a full Thanksgiving dinner,” he said, “we don’t turn anybody down.”
