Why did you choose to go into the Medical Field?
My mother, grandmother and great grandmother were all nurses. I’ve dreamed of being a provider since early childhood, and I’ve always had a passion for caring for the sick and a desire to heal.
What is your favorite part of practicing medicine?
I love my patients. I feel that it is privilege to walk with them through some of the most significant times of their lives.
What do your clients say about you?
They say that I am compassionate, and they know how
much I care.
What interests you most about working at the SLMA CHC?
I am excited about the culture at SLMA. It’s obvious to me that this group is truly concerned with quality patient care. The staff members are passionate and eager to make a difference. It’s something I am excited to become part of.
Who inspires you?
My mother and grandmother both inspire me. They were both passionate, dedicated and hard-working nurses.
What are you most passionate about professionally? What most excites you about your work and the contributions you make?
In general, I love people! Specifically, I am most passionate about working with the geriatric population. I have always felt a burning desire to be in their space and contribute in some way. When I was a little girl, I used to visit the halls of the nursing home where my grandmother worked and visit with the different residents. I would talk to them for hours. I feel a deep connection with them and a compassion for them. They face many losses and are in a season of life of which we all will enter one day. I am excited to have the opportunity to make a difference in this population. It is wonderful to know that we are helping to improve the quality of life for all of our patients, old and young.
