Drawn to the beautiful bones and grand scale of their traditional southern home, a local family brought new life to the original space by creating an atmosphere of laid back luxury. By embracing many details of the original structure and tweaking the existing floor plan to fit their family’s needs, the space transformed into a classic country modern gem.
Although the family was not in the market for a new home, after being approached by two separate friends who thought the home would be a good fit, the couple decided to take a look. Originally overwhelmed with the idea, they took a second look and unexpectedly shifted gears into a remodel adventure. Incorporating a new color palette throughout the entire home created a fresh slate to showcase unique furnishings and art.
Working with Rob Hamilton Construction, their team carried out every vision the family dreamed of, while offering great insight, suggestions and care. Preserving the original brick flooring, Lloyd Olsen stripped and resealed the New Orleans hard tan brick floors in the main living area downstairs giving them a matte finish. In the rest of the home, new hardwood floors were laid.
Receiving the most attention in the renovation was the heart of the home, the kitchen. Previously divided into a breakfast eating area and main kitchen, the space was transformed into a dine in kitchen centered around an oversized island perfect for their family of six.
