The Fontenot family, of Houma, has again given a sizable donation to Terrebonne General Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit through a charity they started in their son’s name.

The Cooper Life Fund donated $13,000 to the unit of the hospital – proceeds from the Super Cooper 5K race, which was held on March 24, 2018 in Houma.

The Fontenot family has been doing the race for several years. In total, they’ve now generously given $156,000 to TGMC since 2006.

The family’s mission for giving back started after their son, Cooper, was born with a heart defect and was in the NICU for an extended period.

The family has since prided themselves on raising awareness and providing support for other families facing similar obstacles.

Proceeds from the race stay local. They benefit TGMC NICU families by purchasing care packages and new born necessities. More than 2,000 families have benefited from the race, to date.
