Lady of the Sea General Hospital in Galliano held its annual Safety Circus recently, an event which seeks to keep locals safe in their surroundings.

The annual event is held each May at the Cut Off Youth Center. It came about through the National SAFE KIDS campaign, which promotes childhood injury prevention by uniting diverse groups into local and state coalitions, developing innovative educational tools and strategies, initiating public policy changes, promoting new technology and raising awareness about many risk areas in a community.

At the Safety Circus, parents and kids in the South Lafourche area are able to learn about how to protect themselves from the most commonly overlooked hazards on land, water and in our homes.

The Safety Circus is free to the public and Lady of the Sea wants to thank its many partners, including the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, which presents RAD Kids and Water Safety; the Les Artists du Bayou; the Kid Care ID program; Bayou Council on Alcoholism and ADAC; the LACHIP program; the Girl Scouts; Kids Trash Patrol and the Lafourche Parish School Bus Division.
