Roux for a Reason recently donated $70,000 to the Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center.

The donation were the proceeds from Roux for a Reason’s 2019 event. To celebrate the event, a reception was held in celebration of the group of philanthropic men, led by Ben Levy and Blake and Ben Floyd, the founders of Roux for a Reason.

At the ceremony, the group gave the cancer center the donation and in addition, the Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center honored the partnership by naming the reception area of the Early Bird Mobile Medical United after Roux for a Reason with a commemorative plaque.

Roux for a Reason was born with the idea to assist local patients in their fight against cancer and to provide awareness and screening to promote early detection.

The annual event, which started in 2017, features a Gumbo Cook Off and it has become one of the most popular events in Terrebonne Parish. It has raised $140,000 since its inception.

“We are extremely grateful to have such an inspirational partner with Roux for a Reason and look forward to continuing to work together to Take the Flight Forward for cancer patients in our community,” said Melanie Guilbeaux, an Oncology Director with TGMC.
