The Krewe of Aphrodite celebrates “Aphrodite in the Spotlight” on Friday, Feb. 21, starting at 6:30 p.m. on the traditional west side route.

The 475 member, all-women krewe features 16 throwing floats, along with floats for past Queen, Captains, Maids, and Queen & Pages.

Aphrodite is known as “Goddess of Love,” derived from the ancient Greek goddess often associated with beauty, pleasure and passion.  The Krewe of Aphrodite formed in 1983 and has paraded throughout the streets of Houma since 1984. The evening parade is known for its beautiful, colorful props and lighting.

This year’s Queen is Jan Brunet.

Her majesty’s pages are Luke Brunet, Megan Brunet, Mckayla Guillot, and Arielle Martinez.

Maids to her Majesty are Crystal Bergeron, Sherrie Cavalier, Cheryl Hebert, Lisa Martin, Damayra Moore, and Lynn White.

Ball Captain is Nanette McElroy and Parade Captain is Parrish Valure.
