Tropical Storm Barry is mostly a gone pecan.

He’s losing steam quickly over land – his remnants spinning somewhere in central Louisiana. Our area will receive a soaking today, but little more.

His biggest remaining impact is the loss of electricity to still more than 17,000 people in our area.

Entergy released new outage statistics this morning and 16,000 local customers are still out.

In Lafourche, 7,091 customers are out. In Terrebonne, there are still 10,914 people without power.

Entergy said before the storm that they’d increase their field team during Barry to combat outages, but that field team is now spread wide. There are currently outages in 46 of the state’s parishes.

But Lafourche and Terrebonne are two of the biggest problems.

Terrebonne has the most statewide outages, while Lafourche is third, behind just East Baton Rouge Parish, which has more than 9,000 people without power.
