A 45-year-old man drowned this weekend in Cocodrie.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said this evening that last night at around 9:15 p.m., his deputies were called to a report of a possible drowning near the 6900 block of La. Highway 56 in Cocodrie.

Larpenter said that when deputies arrived, CPR was being administered. The Little Caillou Fire Department responded as did Acadian Ambulance Service.

Life-saving efforts continued during a transport to a local hospital by Acadian.

The victim, Bryan Bozeman, 45, died after arriving at the hospital.

Authorities learned that Bozeman slipped and fell into the water while cleaning fish. Family member removed him from the water.

Authorities learned that Bozeman was an off-duty Baton Rouge Fire Department Captain.
