A cold front swept through our area last night.

Locally, we are enjoying the benefits of that front with sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid-80s with little humidity.

But as that front sits in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, there is a chance that it could develop tropically and become a nuisance for our area later in the week.

The National Hurricane Center identified the disturbed area this morning, locating it a couple miles off the Louisiana coast. NHC gives the area a 20 percent chance of developing tropically in the next 48 hours.

The area is so close to Louisiana’s shore that it’s not expected to be a major problem – even if it develops.

Models take the low northward to the coast for the weekend.
