Ashley Becnel, a student at Fletcher Technical Community College, has been selected to participate in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars Onsite Experience at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi from June 25-29.

STEM-focused community college students interested in NASA-related careers participate each year in a five-week online learning experience.

Top scoring scholars receive invitations to attend a three-day workshop at a NASA center.

NCAS provides two sessions a year – one in spring and one in fall.

For Becnel, she is currently a general studies major, who plans to transfer to Nicholls and then complete her degree in Astrophysics at LSU.

“On behalf of Fletcher Technical Community College, congratulations to Ashley Becnel on being selected for the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars program,” said Fletcher Chancellor, Dr. Kristine Strickland. “We are especially proud of Ashley’s selection. She will be an excellent representative of Fletcher Technical Community College on this national stage.”
