Junior Auxillary (JA) of Houma will host their Dancing with the Stars fundraising event on Aug. 10 at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center.

The event will feature a dance-off with local celebrities and professional dancers competing to win the Mirrorball Trophy. Guests will also be able to enjoy a live and silent auction, hor d’oeuvres and drinks.

Dancing with the Stars is JA of Houma’s annual fundraising event with all proceeds benefitting eight service projects assisting children and families of Terrebonne Parish.

In the past year, members have volunteered more than 1,300 hours and have serviced 500 children.

Many of the projects focus strictly on emotional and physical support for children.

“The women of JA of Houma have a strong passion for addressing needs and improving the quality of life of our community through hands-on service,” said Natalie Falgout, president of JA of Houma. “Through this event, we are able to provide these services that bring so much joy to others. We whole heartedly appreciate our gracious supporters and donors helping us lead this charge.”

JA of Houma has been recognized on a national level for its recent projects, including Outstanding Provisional Class Service Project for ‘Krewe of You’, Outstanding Existing Service Project for ‘Santa’s Sneakers,’ and the Overall Outstanding Service Project of the Year for ‘MacDonnell Kids Count,’ which also included a $1,000 grant from the NAJA Foundation.
