The Lafourche Parish School Board honored its top students and schools last Wednesday at its annual Lafourche Award Night. The following were recognized for their outstanding feats:


• Bayou Blue Elementary for being awarded a $5,000 Lafourche Education Foundation Grant.

• Andrew T. Benoit-Naquin of Thibodaux High for being selected to serve on BESE for 2016-17.

• Kaitlyn Babin of Raceland Middle for placing first in her Commercial Dairy Cow Class at the LSU State Livestock Show.


• Sarah Oncale of Lockport Middle School and Lily Orgeron of Central Lafourche High for scoring 850 on the 2015 Spring ELA LEAP test.

• Callie Eymard of Larose-Cut Off Middle and Cody Lavergne of Lockport Upper Elementary for scoring 850 on the 2015 Spring Math LEAP test.

• Thibodaux High students Catherine Clement, Mallory Jennings, Brooke Martinez, Taylor George, Renesha Daggs, Lynzi Duet and Madison Scioneaux who were selected as 2015-16 All-American Cheerleaders by the United Cheerleader Association by process of auditions.


• Thibodaux High’s A. Malorie Kraemer, Carley Morvant and Cierra Winch, the student council members earning the distinction of being recognized as NASC Nationally Recognized Leaders.

• Madison Scioneaux, Klint Landry, Brooke Hebert and Drake Thibodaux – Thibodaux High students who were recognized as NASC Dale Hawley Outstanding Leaders in the state.

• Thibodaux High Student Council, which was named National Gold Student Council of Excellence and serving as District IV President for 2016.


• Malorie Kraemer of Thibodaux High, who was selected to serve as Louisiana Association of Student Council District IV President.

• Quentin Franch of Thibodaux High, who selected to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s composite Academic All State Boys Tennis Team.

• Skyler Guillot of Thibodaux High, who was selected to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s composite Academic All State Girls Track and Field and Soccer Team, as well as selected WWL A+ Athlete for exceling in the classroom and on the playing field. Skyler was also selected as Wendy’s Heisman winner.


• Bailey Alexander of Thibodaux High, who was selected to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s composite Academic All State Girls Track and Field Team.

• Caitlyn and Camryn Rodrigue, of Thibodaux High, who were accepted into the American Choral Director’s Association Regional Honor Choir.

• Lexie Gautreaux, Elly Lyle, Kassie San Miguel, Justin Babin and Alec Stieffel, all of Thibodaux High, who placed third in the State FFA Soil Judging Contest.


• Randilyn Toups, Chance Hebert, Kassie San Miguel and Elliott Boudreaux, all of Thibodaux High, who were selected the 2014-15 Meat Judging Champions at the Louisiana FFA Judging Contest.

• Taylor Ordoyne of Central Lafourche High, who was selected to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s composite Academic All-State Girls Soccer Team.

• Claire Melancon of Central Lafourche High, who was selected to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s composite Academic All-State 5-A Girls Basketball Team.


• Central Lafourche High’s Austin Griffin, Trevor Tabor, Tristan Foret, Ryne Mayet, Courtney Dufrene, Jake Naquin, Lily Orgeron and Lyly Chiasson and South Lafourche High’s Kimberly Hu, Julia Pierce, Abby Tran and Taylor Renee Toups, who placed at the District Literary Rally. •
