Lafourche voters renew millages

Lafourche Parish voters opted to renew three preexisting millages on Saturday, lending support to the area’s hospital service district and drainage district.


Hospital Service District No. 1 passes both Prop No. 1 and No. 2 during Election Day, renewing both 3.34 mills and 3.10 mills, respectively for 10-year periods.

The 3.34 mill proposition passed 3,008 votes to 1,333 or 69 percent to 31.

The 3.10 mill proposition vote was similar with 2,971 votes cast for yes and 1,366 for no – also a 69 percent to 31 split.


Lafourche’s Drainage District No. 1 renewed 9/10th’s of a mill for 10 years, passing a vote 4,772 to 1,977, or 71 percent to 29.

In other parish voting, Lafourche voters in Fire Protection District No. 5 opted out of a 16 mill proposal by a 21 vote to 15 vote margin.
