Terrebonne Parish Sheriff-elect Tim Soignet has taken a giant step toward assuming his new duties.

On Friday, Feb. 7, Soignet graduated from the Louisiana Sheriff’s Executive Management Institute Governing Board’s special training for sheriffs, following a full week of training. The program, required for new sheriffs by state law, gives training and perspective on all aspects of being a sheriff in our state.

“It confirms a lot of information and there are some intricacies about the laws that I learned,” Sheriff-elect Soignet said. “It covers not only what we are required to do for law enforcement but also what we do as tax collectors.”

Along with other graduates, the sheriff-to-be was introduced to Gov. John Bel Edwards.

Soignet will take the office held by current sheriff Jerry Larpenter on July 1, 2020.
