Local swamp tour icon Ron “Black” Guidry died this morning at the age of 76.

Guidry’s family confirmed his death with a number of social media posts. The news has been answered by an outpouring of support for the grieving and love for Guidry’s legacy from fans online.

Guidry was the longtime proprietor of the famous A Cajun Man’s Swamp Tour, where he would lead crowds through Bayou Black and regale them with his own music. Guidry sold the tour to Billy Gaston in 2015 but remained involved in tourism and cultural preservation efforts in Terrebonne Parish.

Ron “Black” Guidry offers story and a song to tourists on his A Cajun Man’s Swamp Tour as well as a close-up look at wildlife and the natural surroundings of Terrebonne Parish.
