TARC has received one of the highest honors possible for service in Louisiana.

The governor’s office announced this week that TARC has received the Governor’s Outstanding Leadership in Disabilities (GOLD) Award for Service Provider of the Year.

TARC Executive Director Mary Lynn Bisland will be in Baton Rouge on Nov. 15 to accept the honor

With the motto “creating opportunities”, TARC has done outstanding work in providing services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Terrebonne.

Now in its 55th year, TARC has created and operates 14 businesses – all with the purpose of employing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community.

In addition to the in-house businesses, TARC also has 19 individuals who are employed in independent jobs through the Louisiana Rehabilitation Supported Employment program at 19 different locations in Terrebonne.
