“In school, my favorite subjects are science and reading. I participate in band and color guard because it allows me to express myself. Being in these activities allows me to meet new people, have new experiences, and learn more about myself. Reading and writing are also things that I enjoy because there is no limit to what is possible and I can let my imagination run wild. There are many things that I am interested in such as running track, growing plants, taking care of animals. I’m interested in these things because I enjoy being outdoors and being active. At my house, we take care of many animals such as chickens, dogs, birds, and fish. We also have many varieties of plants that we grow. I spend as much time as I can helping others because it gives me a feeling of accomplishment. This year I plan on contributing more in my community because I have more free time. In previous years, I had very little time to volunteer because of school and extracurricular activities. However, I can volunteer much more since I only have three classes. Volunteering makes me feel that I am doing something worthwhile with my time because I know that I am helping others. Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that I want to be an occupational therapist when I get older. Occupational therapists help people who experience traumatic things and have to relearn how to do things in everyday life. I feel as though I would enjoy this occupation because I would be helping others rehabilitate, and I could see their progress towards a normal life.”
