Three Golden Meadow Council members will welcome two newcomers to the council after tonight’s election.


With all precincts reporting, Jody Cheramie, Willis Toups and Lindberg Lorraine earned re-election. Laci Latiolais and Ashton Cheramie will join those incumbents as new faces on the council.

The Golden Meadow Council election process chooses the five highest vote earners to the council seats. Cheramie, Other, won 496 votes and 12 percent of the vote. Toups, a Republican, won another 12 percent with 485 votes. Republican Latiolais earned 449 votes and 11 percent of the total, while Lorraine, Other, took in 447 votes and 11 percent. Cheramie, no party, won 438 votes and 11 percent of the vote. Incumbent David Adams did not run for re-election and fellow incumbent Priscilla Mounic, no party, earned 272 votes, not enough for re-election.
