UPDATE: Escaped inmate now back in custody

A Lafourche prisoner is back in custody after escaping an Avoyelle Parish Detention Center on Wednesday morning.

Kyron Folse, 19, and another inmate were discovering missing from their cell around 5:30 a.m., Avoyelles Sheriff Doug Anderson reported. According to Anderson, the inmates – both jailed for armed robbery – chipped a hole in the ceiling and crawled through a storage area that led outside. They climbed a perimeter fence and escaped the grounds, he said.

One of the escapees, Frank Sneed, was found early Wednesday morning in New Roads and returned to jail.

At around 4:40 p.m., LPSO Sergeant Brennan Matherne said in a news release that Folse, too, was located in New Roads and taken back into custody.
