There’s still a long way to go, but absentee balloting in Lafourche Parish is telling a strong story about the possible fate of local elections.

In the hotly contested Sheriff race, incumbent Craig Webre carried 70 percent of 8,970 absentee ballots, a resounding majority over Craig Jaccuzzo (19 percent) and Thomas Rodrigue (11 percent).
