Kathy Smith

November 9, 1958 – February 18, 2020

Kathy Jean Gaudet Smith, a native of Arcadia, Louisiana and resident of Gray, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at the age of 61, surrounded by her loving family.

A visitation will be held in her honor on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Samart Funeral Home on West Park from 10:00 am until the Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm.

She is survived by her loving husband, Hilton Smith Sr.; two sons, Shane Babin and fiance Sandy Liner and her children, Tessa and Chase Liner, and Hilton “Toodee” Smith Jr. and fiance Ashlee Parfait; granddaughter, Rayla Babin and boyfriend Joshua Woods; siblings, Janice Cox and husband Wayne, Jason Devault and wife Connie, Evelyn Neil and husband Arnold, Betty Devault, Phyllis Aucoin, and Paula Williams and husband Eric; step-sister, Venetia King Babin and husband Carey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren and loved ones that she took care of throughout the years. She was also survived by her two beloved dogs, Kiba and Diamond.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Christian Babin; her mother, Roberta Bellamy Wasdin; her father, Sylvester “Buddy” Callahan; siblings, Irving “Bill” Aucoin and Michael Lite; sisters-in-law, Mary and Beulah; mother-in-law, Gloria Smith; and her beloved dog, Kirby.

She was an avid Saints fan. When she wasn’t watching football, she was messaging family and friends on Facebook. She enjoyed her sons cooking and spending time with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Houma Health Care and Ochsner and Mary Bird Perkins at Terrebonne General, Larry Malbrough Sr. and Mama Janice Gardener for their contributions during her time of need, and the staff at St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion during her final days.
