After two-straight dominant victories, the Nicholls football team is continuing to move up in the polls.
The Colonels (4-2, 3-1 Southland), moved up two spots to No. 23 in this week’s FCS Coaches Top 25 Poll – the second time the team has reached that mark this season.
The Colonels were first ranked No. 23 before playing Sam Houston State three weeks ago.
After losing that game, the team dropped out the poll, but they’ve quickly climbed back to that spot after consecutive wins over Lamar and Northwestern State.
In the STATS FCS Poll, Nicholls is ranked just outside of the Top 25, currently sitting at No. 30 in the country.
The Colonels are among several Southland teams earning recognition.
Central Arkansas and Sam Houston are both in the Top 10 in both polls and McNeese State is No. 21 in the Coaches Poll and No. 22 in the STATS poll.
Nicholls will have a chance to continue their ascent on Saturday when they take on Abilene Christian at John L. Guidry Stadium.
