People around the country are continuing to recognize that Nicholls is one of the best teams in the country for the FCS.
The Colonels jumped to No. 12 in this week’s major FCS Top 25 polls, fresh off a dominant home victory against Lamar last weekend.
The Colonels are 3-2 on the season and are red-hot with consecutive home wins over Sam Houston State and Lamar.
Nicholls is one of four Southland teams currently in the Top 25. McNeese is in the Top 10 in both polls, sitting at No. 9 in one and No. 10 in the other.
Sam Houston jumped up to No. 16 in one poll and No. 17 in the other after a rebound win over Central Arkansas. The Bears, despite the loss, are the other ranked Southland team. They’re No. 18 and No. 20 in the polls.
The unanimous No. 1 team in the FCS is North Dakota State. The annual powerhouse program sits at the top after a rivalry win against South Dakota State, a Top 5 team.
Nicholls will get a chance to improve their position on Saturday night in Natchitoches against Northwestern State. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
