A new coaching era begins at H.L. Bourgeois High School, as Tawaskie Anderson takes on the role of head football coach.

Andrew Caillouet, H.L. Bourgeois athletic director, confirmed the hiring with the Times this afternoon.

“He’s been in our Parish a longtime,” Caillouet said.  “One thing we were looking for was someone to have some longevity with us.”

Anderson was previously a coach for Ellender for nine years. During his time there, he had a 15-69 record and achieved one playoff berth.

Recently, he was coaching at Oaklawn Junior High School.

Anderson is replacing Ryan Fournier, who resigned from the position in January to become offensive coordinator at Denham Springs High School.

“I feel like he has made a commitment to be here a long while,” Caillouet said of Anderson. “He has a vision for the program and on how he wants to get it to where he wants it.”
