Before the season started, E.D. White volleyball coach Sarah Johnson made it clear.

“We want to get back to State and we want to win the last match of the season,” Johnson said. “That’s what we’re working toward. That’s our goal.”

The Lady Cardinals are now officially one win away from making that season-long dream a reality.

E.D. White crushed No. 3 Westlake on Friday at the State Tournament, playing one of their most dominant matches of the season to roll to a straight-sets victory.

The Lady Cardinals won relatively easily all three sets and were mostly without drama, scoring 25-15, 25-10, then 25-17 wins en route to the victory.

Ever Westlake run was met with a furious Lady Cardinals’ rally and a larger surge.

With the win, E.D. White now moves to the State Final.

This is where their journey ended last season in a thriller against Vandebilt.

Now, the Lady Cardinals will be taking on No. 1 Cabrini, which scored a straight sets win over No. 4 Ursuline Academy this morning.

The teams are no strangers to one another.

They met earlier this season with Cabrini scoring a 4-set win.

Tomorrow’s match will be played at 2 p.m. on Center Court.
