Ellender Memorial will honor first responders at tomorrow night’s football game against Morgan City.

Patriots coach David McCormick said that all policemen, firemen, emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and military members will get into Friday night’s game free – a move the coach said is a gesture of appreciation to those involved.

“We wanted to do something to honor them,” McCormick said. “So we want them to come and enjoy our ballgame – free of charge.”

The Patriots matchup with Morgan City will be a big one for both teams.

Ellender is 4-2 on the season and 0-1 in District 7-4A play. The Patriots fell 44-40 against Assumption last weekend in a thriller.

With a win against the Tigers, the Patriots could ensure that they’ll not have a losing season.

McCormick said he’s happy with the way his team is playing, and wants his group to finish strong in the final weeks.

The game will be at South Terrebonne High School.

The opening kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.
