Thibodaux native Trovon Reed is back in the NFL again.

The Seattle Seahawks announced earlier this week that they’ve signed the defensive back to their practice squad, marking Reed’s return to the city where his career started a few seasons ago.

Reed, a Thibodaux High School graduate, signed with Auburn out of high school as a receiver, then changed to a defensive back late in his career.

The move sparked success and Reed signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2015.

He stayed with Seattle until Nov. 2016 when the then-San Diego Chargers signed him away from Seattle, promoting him to the active roster.

With the Chargers, Reed enjoyed success, playing in six games, recording two interceptions.

Reed was with the team throughout preseason, but didn’t make the Chargers’ final roster.

He’s been a free agent since getting the call by Seattle this week.

“Had every reason to fold/quit, but God wouldn’t let me because He had a plan,” Reed tweeted just minutes after getting the news.

Seattle is in the market for defensive backs after losing All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman for the season last weekend to a torn Achilles tendon.
