The links below are to individual recordings made on different dates by Todd Duplantis, who retired as chief of the Houma Police Department in August. The recordings are the subjects of court action by attorneys for HPD Capt. Duane Farmer, who has objected to the fact that they were made on the basis of internal HPD policy. Farmer’s civil service complaint alleges that he suffered retaliation by Duplantis for testimony he gave in a civil case brought in federal court by another officer, Sgt. Kyle Faulk, which resulted in a $300,000 settlement to be paid by the parish.

The Times has chosen to make the recordings available publicly because of a belief that whenever possible readers should know as much as the newspaper does about matters of public interest.

The recordings bring to life an inside look at what had been a troubled time for the HPD during the last year of Duplantis’ administration.

The recordings were edited and administered by Casey Gisclair
