The left lane on La. Highway 24 West, also called West Park Avenue, will be closed from 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the intersection with U.S. Highway 90.
The closure is needed for repairing portions of La. Highway 24 West. Drivers will be allowed to use the right lane.
Drivers headed westbound on La. Highway 24 are being asked to detour to U.S. Highway 90 East, to La. Highway 316 (east bound) to the junction of La. Highway 316 and La. Highway 24.
Westbound motorists will not be allowed to use the ramp from U.S. Highway 90 to La. Highway 24 next week to allow for repairs to La. Highway 24 West. Instead, drivers are asked to use La. Highway 311 southbound and exit, travel to U.S. Highway 90 East and onto La. Highway 24 West (Park Avenue).
Audit criticizes Louisiana Racing Commission for nonpayment
The Louisiana Racing Commission owes the Board of Regents more than $15 million in revenue from off-track betting sites, according to a Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s report released Monday.
State Rep. Joe Harrison, R-Gray, who first discovered the missed payments, said he has spoken with a number of state law enforcement agencies about it.
Harrison said that should the Gaming Commission pay the Board of Regents their cut from now on, the government entity should expect to receive between $500,000 and $600,000 per year.
