The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes but the house was significantly damaged as a result of the fire. None of the residents were harmed.

During a fire on Christmas Day, two St. John Firefighters, Firefighter Chris Winkler and Firefighter Bobby Rodrigue, were injured and transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans. On Monday, December 26, 2022, Firefighter Chris Winkler was released from the hospital and is now at home with his family. On Thursday, December 29, 2022, Firefighter Bobby Rodrigue was released from the hospital and the St. John Volunteer Fire Department escorted their brother home to his family.

We are experiencing some street flooding inside the City of Thibodaux and anticipate more throughout the remainder of the afternoon. Below is a list of roadways currently blocked due to impassable conditions. The street closure list will be updated as further closures take place.

Bayou Cane Fire Protection District was dispatched to a residential fire in the 7300 block of Park Avenue. A dog was removed from the structure and was able to be successfully revived by crews on scene.
