Over 30 companies will be at a local library February 3rd, for a job fair.

People are encouraged to dress nice and bring resumes to the Terrebonne Parish Library’s Main Branch, as companies seek both experienced and entry level recruits. The library has partnered with LA Workforce Connection, and Louisiana Rehabilitation Office to host this event from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.

“A lot of the time we have patrons who are conducting a job search,” said Carlos Crockett, a librarian who headed putting this together. “This is a chance for them to meet and greet with employers in one place.”

The fair is an extension of the job seeking services provided by the library, said Crockett. It offers free computer courses as well as classes on resume and cover letter creation.

Storytime and craft activities will be held in the children’s area, so that parents seeking jobs can keep their children entertained.

Oil field, retail, medical, service, and governmental organizations are some of the businesses which have signed up to be in attendance. Fletcher Community College, Blue Cliff College, and The Learning Bridge will be in attendance also.

Registered vendors include, but are not limited to, Teche Action Clinic, Wal-Mart, Terrebonne General Medical Center, US Census Bureau, Ground Pat’i, Options for Independence, Lowes, and Thomas Sea-Marine.

“They’ll each have a booth or table in our lobby or in our large meeting room,” said Jessi Suire, PR and Adult Services Director for the library.
