Mr. Ronnies

For decades, the people of South Lafourche have driven to Houma to shop.

Oh, and on the way back, a stop to Mr. Ronnie's was often in order to get a few snacks for the ride home.

But now, the trip to Mr. Ronnie's may come before the drive to Houma, because they're soon to get their own.

Mr. Ronnie's Famous Hot Donuts announced yesterday afternoon on social media that they were expanding.

First, they posted a picture of a building with a Mr. Ronnie's expansion sign, asking locals to guess the location.

Soon, locals cracked the code, figuring out that the new location will be at the old Huddle House Building off La. Highway 3235 in Galliano.

As news got out about the expansion, the post went viral, and hundreds of commenters expressed their excitement for the expansion.

Rumors of Mr. Ronnie's coming to Galliano have gone on for years. But now, they're written in stone with an estimated opening date of January 2020.

"We've been trying for a while now," Mr. Ronnie's Facebook page said, of a Galliano location. "But everything finally fell into place."

Folks down the bayou in southern Lafourche Parish could have a parade today, if authorities would let.

Literally hundreds of folks in the area shared the news of Mr. Ronnie's expansion, with countless images and GIFs shared to mark the news.

"OMG! No way!!!" commenter Keisha Blanchard said on the post. "Yessss, yessss, yesssss!!"

"Dreams do come true!" Lexie Terrebonne posted. "Block party Down The Bayou!"

While folks celebrated the tasty treats, Mr. Ronnie's will also help the local economy. The business will create jobs, and on the Facebook post, it was announced that applications will be collected once it gets closer to the opening date.

Mr. Ronnie's currently has two locations - one in Houma and another in Baton Rouge, per the company's website.

The business has been in operation since the 1970s.
