The real estate world is constantly changing – every day presents a different challenge for Realtors.

That constant battle is what Houma-based broker Travis Griffin said fuels his life.

That fuel is what he believes sets apart his business from others in the real estate game.

Going on its third year in operation, South Coast Real Estate continues to expand and is quickly becoming a well-known name in local real estate.

With holdings across the state, Griffin said the company is now entrenched in markets outside of the Tri-parish area.

“Business is booming,” Griffin said. “We have been continuously blessed with public support and the support of our esteemed colleagues and our loyal clients. Since opening, we have continued to increase our overall production and gross revenue exponentially every year and we’re rapidly expanding throughout the state in various markets, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans.”

The brains behind South Coast Real Estate’s successes, Griffin has been involved in real estate for his entire adult life.

The South Lafourche High School graduate said he has almost eight years experience in the field.

That is equally impressive when one considers that he is only 23-years-old.

Griffin’s first work in the industry came when he was still a student in high school.

“I always said growing up that I would go to law school and be a lawyer. I think at one point, I wanted to be a meteorologist, too,” Griffin said with a laugh. “But I got my motivation at 15-years-old when I worked part-time in high school. I did random tasks around the officer and observed the interacting and assisting clients. I got exposed to the fast-paced environment and the rewarding feelings people have when deals are closed and people are brought together.

“Seeing that is when I knew I had found my calling in life.”

After his part-time high school gig, Griffin hopped aboard at Century 21 Real Estate, where he was named a top producer as an associate broker.

But while working for another company, Griffin said he became inspired to create his own, which lead to South Coast Real Estate’s creation in Feb. 2010.

“I just felt as though it was the right time to create a firm unrivaled in the local marketplace,” Griffin said. “We wanted a firm that would produce and train only the most knowledgeable, dedicated and service-oriented staff.”

Whether South Coast Real Estate has all of that is up to the customer.

But results speak for themselves – the business keeps growing.

Griffin said South Coast is a full-service real estate firm that offers everything in the field imaginable.

“We provide every aspect of real estate services available from traditional individual buyer and seller representation to relocation services,” Griffin said.

The company also offers asset management services, broker price opinions/CMAs, property management investments and general real estate consulting services.

“Just to name a few things that we do,” Griffin said.

Griffin admitted that he and other local businesses have an advantage compared to other firms across the country because of the Tri-parish area’s glistening unemployment rate.

He said that aside from the company’s services, our local economy is probably the top reason why South Coast has been able to enjoy as much success as it has in such a short span of time.

“Our local market is doing well and has consistently maintained an above-average local economy, in great part to the oilfield and related industries,” Griffin said.

But no matter how much one thinks they may know about real estate, Griffin said it’s impossible to fully master the craft.

The local business owner said it is his company’s mission to stay ahead of the game as best as it can.

The chess match is a large source of the inspiration that guides Griffin’s business life.

“The real estate industry is ever-changing – it’s like a roller coaster,” Griffin said. “The spontaneity of the field really keeps me on my toes and I absolutely love it. The main inspiration of my career in real estate is the ability to meet and interact with so many people and help them with one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. This is a rewarding field in so many ways, and it makes me feel great meeting so many wonderful people, all in different situations.

“I just keep being reminded of this quote: ‘Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.’ That’s me.”
