Nicholls State University’s Gamma chapter of Chi Sigma Iota will host their annual Bayou Mental Health Awareness Conference on Saturday, August 27, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All conference sessions will be held in the Donald G. Bollinger Memorial Student Union. The event will feature a full day of community support and locally relevant presentations on narrative therapy, empowering families in the midst of addiction, ethical considerations regarding addressing sexuality and gender within the counseling process, and many more. Presentations will be conducted by mental health professionals from across the state.


Guests speakers include Dr. Walt Hammerli, Mary Kathryn Gastinel, Tyranique C. Harding, Haley Adams, Sydnei Mabile, Jacqueline Matte, and many more. Doors will open at 7 a.m. with all conference sessions taking place in the Cotillion Ballroom and the Mardi Gras Suite. General admission to the event is free for Nicholls students, and $65 for non-students. Early bird registration is $55 and will be available on Wednesday, August 10.
