Parents and guardians of children ages birth to five years are invited to learn about local child care programs during a free Child Care Resources Fair on January 18, at the Terrebonne Parish Library’s Main Branch in Houma.

Representatives from Ready Start Terrebonne will be available to discuss early childhood care options including Public Pre-K, Head Start, and Early Learning Centers, as well as child care subsidies that may be available for qualified applicants.  Bricks 4 Kidz of Houma will provide LEGO® building toys for youngsters to play with during the kid-friendly community event.

The Child Care Resources Fair will take place on January 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Terrebonne Parish Library’s Main Branch on 151 Library Drive in Houma. It is free and open to the public. Every family attending will receive a goodie bag.

“Studies prove that children ages birth to five benefit from proper early learning environments. We want to help local parents learn about available programs and teaching tools that can prepare their child for kindergarten,” says Gracie Detiveaux, Terrebonne Parish School District Act III Coordinator.

“Over 6,000 preschool children in Terrebonne Parish are not receiving valuable educational resources. Together, we can support working parents and prepare our children for kindergarten and beyond.”

Ready Start Terrebonne provides access to high-quality early learning centers and educational tools for parents and employers.  Learn more about Ready Start Terrebonne’s services at www.readystartterrebonne.org.
