We Inspire LA will celebrate the grand opening of its Houma-based transitional housing program with a ribbon cutting ceremony today, Wednesday, September 14, from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The non-profit organization invites the community to come out and celebrate the grand opening of the facility. “We Inspire La is a nonprofit created with the intent of providing transitional housing to those who need a helping hand. This could be those re-entering society post-incarceration, individuals who don’t meet income or credit requirements to obtain permanent housing, or those who have fallen on hard times due to addictions,” reads a statement from the organization.

The new facility, Dianne’s House, is being named in honor of a woman who is described as being a helping hand, and a saving grace. The ribbon cutting will be held on her birthday. The ceremony will be held at the Houma We Inspire Facility, located at 2664 Express Blvd. For more information on the transitional housing program, visit We Inspire LA on Facebook.

Founded by Latoya Walters, the program was created to address the lack of transitional housing for women. Walters said the program aims to provide assistance to the most vulnerable groups in the community. “Whether it is being formerly incarcerated, dealing with drug abuse, or simply falling on challenging times; We Inspire aims to bridge the gap of where women once were, to where they want to be, providing a positive living environment.”
